One of the challenges for the San Francis level in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4 will require you to save a dude known as Painter Neal. Somehow, he managed to get himself stuck hanging off the pier. Not that bad, normally… but there’s also an oversized shark trying to eat Neal for lunch! Hurry up and read on, we’ll tell you how to save Neal before things go south.
How to Save Painter Neal in San Francisco | Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4

As soon as you load into the San Francisco level, you just need to go straight forward to the pier. You’ll find Painter Neal there, hanging from a sign while a massive shark tries to bite a chunk out of him. We can’t let that happen now, can we?

Face Neal and the sign, then turn around to face the opposite direction. You should see a statue of a decently big stone ball. That’s your next goal, so go there for now.

As soon as you reach the ball, you should see that it has some wires keeping it in place. Jump toward them and do any grind trick on them to break them away. Do it right and you’ll get the “Wire Breakin!!!” trick as well as a pop-up saying “Give It A Push!”

Well, as the pop-up said, you just need to give the ball an extra push to get it rolling! Jump toward the ball’s back and press the jump button a second time once you’re close to the ball. If you do it right, you’ll do a Wallplant on the ball’s back, triggering a short cutscene. The shark isn’t a problem anymore, so Painter Neal is saved! Woah, thanks, skater!
That’s all you need to do to complete the “Save Painter Neal” challenge in the San Francisco level of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4. If you’re done being nice, though, you can also complete a challenge by soaking the Foreman in the Foundry. It’s simpler than this challenge, too, which proves that being a hater is always easier…
