Ford Cars DLC Announced For American Truck Simulator

After revealing the upcoming Road Trip module allowing you to drive more than trucks, we’ve now seen Ford Cars DLC announced for American Truck Simulator.

The Road Trip concept was revealed in April with the chance to not only drive other types of vehicles within ATS, but also having new kinds of tasks and jobs to complete. And it’s now confirmed that the first DLC will be the Ford Car Pack.

Confirmed for inclusion are the 1967 Ford Mustang, the 1998-2012 Ford Crown Victoria, the 2023 F-150, and the 2023 Ford Bronco. The latter two make sense as potential off-road and delivery vehicles, and the Crown Victoria was particularly notable as the Police Interceptor model, as well as being used as a taxi cab.

Specific details, engine configurations and trim options are still to be confirmed, but there’s a decent amount of variety. Developers SCS Software have already talked about implementing car physics, although another issue may be the availability of fuel given the current distances between gas stations.

Car mods do already exist for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, so there’s some demand out there for the ability to drive cars, vans and pick-up trucks along with hauling cargo in big rigs, but it’ll be interesting to see whether that converts to a lot of interest and DLC sales when it officially arrives.

Obviously there are various existing alternatives for open world driving, with various degrees of realism. So are there enough people interested specifically in being able to drive these types of vehicle in ETS 2 and ATS? Or could it bring in a potential new audience.

When you own the Ford Pack DLC, it will grant you access to the Road Trip gameplay module, but that also applies to any future Road Trip DLC. So if you’re a hardcore fan of Chevy, Dodge or other popular American car brands, you don’t necessarily have to invest in the blue oval pack.
