Microsoft is working on something that could bring nostalgia to your screen – think of Xbox 360-era classics. It is making moves that could change how and where you play classic Xbox games on modern Xbox ecosystems, and maybe on Windows gaming ecosystems as well.

The engineer’s job is to “be a key contributor to the technology solutions developed to emulate legacy games on modern platforms. This will allow you an opportunity for a broad impact across the Xbox and Windows gaming ecosystem.” In simple words, it is to design emulation systems that bring older games without bugs to the modern Xbox gaming systems, keeping the experience smooth and secure for the players.
For gamers, it means a smoother, bug-free version of your favourite old games, possibly playable on new devices. This means that your old favourite might be making its way to modern consoles you never thought possible.
While the listing does not confirm the return of any particular titles, the job description reveals the aim of bringing its Xbox 360 era games to all new devices, for the year to come. Which classic Xbox game would you love to see make a comeback?
Clearing up on ‘Minimum Print Requirement’ for Physical Media
In addition to the game preservation and emulation news, Xbox has made clear the confusion around minimum physical print requirements for Xbox. For years, developers and publishers talked about Xbox having a “minimum print requirement” for its physical media. But Xbox says that’s not the case anymore.
As reported by Gamer Social Club, Xbox has officially released a statement about this: “Xbox has no minimum order quantity for physical media. Retailers, studios and partners make their own decisions based on what they feel is best for their business and players. If a developer wants to make physical copies of their Xbox games, they should get in touch with us to learn how to get started.”
That’s some great news for physical game lovers and collectors. So, which game would you like to add to your collection next?
