Report: ROG Xbox Ally Pre-Orders Now Expected To Begin In Late September

Yesterday, we were expecting Xbox to reveal the release date, price and pre-order details for the ROG Xbox Ally handheld, but we only ended up getting one of those things – the release date, which is October 16th.
A leaker by the name of “billbil-kun” did reveal some potential US prices for the device earlier in the day though, and now they’ve taken to the website Dealabs to share what’s going on with the pre-orders.
So, as things stand, pre-orders for the ROG Xbox Ally are expected to begin on September 25th, 2025. The outlet says this date should be “taken with caution” though, as there’s every chance Microsoft could move the goalposts again.
“Following our recent investigations, and after the postponement of the first appointment scheduled for August 20th, we have been able to identify a new potential date for the opening of pre-orders. However, this information should be taken with caution, given the frequent calendar adjustments in recent days.
So, pre-orders for the Xbox Ally and Ally X are now expected to start on September 25, 2025. We will of course continue to monitor the situation and will update this article as soon as new information is available from our side.”
Should this turn out to be the case, we’ll be looking at less than a month between the pre-order date and the release date in October – and it suggests Microsoft wants to wait until the last possible minute to begin selling these things.
And by the way, when it comes to the leaked prices from earlier this week, Dealabs says this has shifted around quite a lot – the standard ROG Xbox Ally is said to have gone from an internal price of $499 to $599 and then finally $549.99.
Will it change again over the next few weeks? That’s the bit nobody knows right now… we’ll have to wait and see.
