Toyota Celsior teased as Lexus LC500 confirmed for Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s v1.0 release

The latest teaser from Tokyo Xtreme Racer developer Genki has confirmed that the Lexus LC500 will be coming to v1.0 of the game when it releases later this year.

The Lexus is a beefy-looking coupe that produces copious amounts of power from its five-litre V8 powerplant. However, it’s built less for racing along Tokyo’s expressways and more for cruising, thanks to its ‘Luxury Coupe’ nomenclature.

The LC is built at Toyota’s Motomachi facility in Japan, the same place where the incredible Lexus LFA was conceived, and forms the basis of the firm’s LC500 racecar that competes in the country’s premier sports car series, Super GT.

Toyota Celsior

If the Lexus LC500 seems like an incongruous choice for a racing game, the Toyota Celsior is completely off-the-wall, and it certainly looks like it’s the next car coming to TXR.

Reminiscent of a ‘90s Mercedes-Benz E-class, the Celsior is a stalwart of the TXR series, having appeared in Genki’s Import Tuner Challenge back in 2006.

Although it exhibits the aerodynamic properties of a brick, it’s hoped the Celsior (named the Lexus LS in North America) will become competitive thanks to the game’s extensive tuning and modifying mechanics.

The version of the Celsior we’ll see in TXR could well be the C-Specification, F Interior Package (UCF31) ‘02 model, given its use in Genki’s past games, so we await the studio’s next teaser for confirmation.
